We recognize that there are a range of developmental levels among our four to six-year-old students in Pre-K and Kindergarten. The Pre-K/Kindergarten curriculum provides for a nurturing, child-centered environment, with a personalized, challenging, yet comfortable program. Our approach during the first days of school is to pique curiosity, and foster their sense of belonging, security and adventure. Our youngest students become acquainted with routines and schedules, behavior guidelines, and rules and responsibilities. We provide our youngest members of Wilson with a variety of stimulating hands-on materials, and we use thematic learning units which build upon each child's interests and life experiences. We use a variety of learning approaches such as whole language, discovery learning and scientific exploration within the framework of our curriculum to encourage each child to learn and grow.
