MOUNTAIN LAKES - The Wilson School has announced that for the seventh consecutive year, its was named Physical Fitness State Champion for New Jersey, Category 1, by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

A statement released by the school said that more than a third of all students achieved at least the 85th percentile on the Presidential Physical Fitness Test, which consists of five events that test speed, flexibility and endurance.

The test was administered by Bruce Rhinesmith, the school's physical fitness instructor.

"The students gave their all during the President's Fitness challenge," he said.

Rhinesmith, who encourages students to never give up on their fitness goals, said he was delighted with the efforts of this year's students.

"Some repeated an event several times until they were able to improve their performance to award-level range, and the results show that their perseverance paid off," he said.

The council is a government organization that aims to "promote, encourage and motivate Americans of all ages to become physically active and participate in sports." Part of the federal Department of Health and Human Services, the council was created in 1956 by President Eisenhower.
