“Last
year, before starting my freshman year at
Newark
Academy, I was relatively nervous, as I thought that the transition from a
grade of 7 to a grade of 100 would be difficult.
Thankfully, the transition process was relatively seamless, and
in no time at all I was completely comfortable with all aspects of
Newark
Academy. As all students are
required to take an art for at least one year, I played in the band.
It was so enjoyable, however, that I have returned for a second
year and plan on playing in it all four years.
My freshman year I was also very involved in sports, receiving a
varsity letter from two sports teams.
The baseball team traveled to Florida
for spring training, something that I would have never thought possible,
and something I am more than happy I took part in.
This year I am enrolled in a variety of honors courses.
As there is no honors/advanced placement English course available
to sophomores, I am taking standard level American Literature.
While before Mrs. Preston I considered math to be one of my
weaker subjects, I am now enrolled in a high level pre-calc honors
course.

I am taking AP US History with a teacher you
know quite well. For the
past two years I have taken honors French courses, and was lucky enough
(this summer) to meet my freshman year French teacher in a café in
Paris. My affinity for the
sciences has landed me in the honors chemistry course, something I no
doubt owe to Mrs. Moore.” ~Nat
