The 8th Grade would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to all those who contributed
to their Valentine’s Day fundraiser and a special thanks to Mrs. Moore and Mrs.
Ortenzi for all of their help and guidance. We made a profit of just under $500

Hanging of the Greens
The Hanging of the Greens is an age-old Welsh tradition that was brought to The Wilson School (when it was called St. John’s School) by Reverend and Mrs. Wilson. Each year since then, a time is set aside on the first Friday in December for decorating the halls with greenery, the middle school with a tree, and the classrooms with student contributions to represent their holidays. Mrs. Hove also creates a special holiday design for the windows, which the middle school students then paint.

The tests include the “V” sit, which tests for flexibility; push-ups and/or pull-ups which test arm and chest strength; curl-ups which check the stomach muscles; the mile-run and the shuttle-run for long and short distance running.
The students receiving the Presidential Award have achieved at or above the 95th percentile in each of the tested areas.

Celebrating the Family of Wilson
A Wilson School tradition is to celebrate the Family of Wilson at the first assembly of the academic year. This program was held on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at 11:15 in the auditorium. The new sound system was much appreciated for the Performance Scholars, Helena and Disha, who performed Irish Step Dancing and Indian Dancing for our enjoyment. Each student and teacher came forward and introduced themselves with their name and a little information. An 8th grader read an original writing “Dick and Jane at The Wilson School”, which was enjoyed by all.

Project Oreo 2011
PreK 3 through 4th Grade had great fun participating in the JenuineTech’s 13th Annual O.R.E.O Project, (Our Really Exciting Online Project.) The Oreo® cookie was used as a teaching tool for Math, Science and Language Arts. Some of the skills practiced were estimating the number of Oreos that can be stacked before they tumble, calculating the class average, measuring the distance that an Oreo can travel from different heights, comparing mass of a crushed vs. a whole Oreo, along with creative writing.
